Ensuring Equality for All of Us

An End to Discriminatory Laws

Folks often point to the enormous economic impact that laws like HB2 have, but the real issue with laws like these is that discrimination is simply wrong. We deserve laws and lawmakers that protect all of us from discrimination, especially those who are already marginalized.

I support policies that bring an end to discrimination in our state and measures that ensure everyone enjoys the same protections and opportunities that all North Carolinians deserve, regardless of who we are, where we come from, who we love, or what we believe. We as a people have made it clear that we are committed to equality; we want our laws to show it.

Protecting Immigrants

In recent years, North Carolina has experienced a wave of anti-immigrant legislation. I believe we should be crafting laws that recognize the value immigrants bring to our communities. This includes repairing the damage caused by HB 318, which prevents local communities from adopting sanctuary city ordinances. We should be building trust and bringing our communities together, not using fear to push them apart.

beyond equality

It’s easy to talk about equality, but ensuring equity for folks in our community is the truer marker of progress. It requires us to have the difficult conversations and to make sure everyone has a fair shot at making whatever life they want for themselves.
